You’ve heard it on the streets of Macau, on the megaphones, on bus advertisements and on the news. To keep practicing social distancing, stay active and have a balanced diet. So here’s an extension to our list of healthy spots in Macau, healthy doesn’t have to boring and we chose these top 5 spots to prove it.
Looking for a quick energizing drink for your “5 a day”? We recommend Habit Box’s 5 Green Detox Juice loaded in vitamins, it’s the perfect refreshment when you’re seeking for some strong nourishment. We like the combination of moisture-rich celery, cucumber and green pepper in it. With green apples adding a touch of sweetness, while the bitter melon adds more flavor and an immune-boosting kick! Super packed with easily-digestible nutrients to jump start your day. (Refer to featured photo above)
We also like their signature acai bowls. They’ve got 3 choices: “The Habit”, “Vitality” and “Naked Coconut”. All three bowls include fresh fruit cuts and toppings of granola and chia seeds. Or you can create your own bowl – just select your base (Pink Garden: mango strawberry, banana and acai | Pitaya: red dragon fruit, mango, passion fruit and banana | or Tropical: mixed berries, banana and acai) then choose your favorite fruit cuts and toppings. We love that they also have oven-baked purple sweet potato bits as toppings and how it’s served on a real coconut bowl. Healthy and instagrammable!

For a hearty lunch, we enjoy going to Common Table in Taipa. Their new Summer Pasta is refreshing, fulfilling yet light to have. With chunks of mozzarella, fresh basil and juicy cherry tomatoes – it actually reminded us of Caprese. Simple, fresh and wholesome. It is simple summer comfort food at its finest!
Another recommendation is their Coriander Base Orzo Risotto with Fennel and Arugula Salad. Orzo is a type of small pasta that looks like grains of rice. This risotto is incredibly creamy from their rich mascarpone and packed with tender orzo pasta and sharp, nutty parmesan cheese. It has a lighter mouthfeel than traditional risotto yet it still packs that ultra decadent, velvety taste. It is warm and inviting, and is a perfect healthy lunch or dinner to must try.

Hawaiian Poke Bowl
Eat the rainbow here at Hawaiian Poke Bowl where we love (and are obsessed with) their Mixed Raw Fish Poke Bowl with bite-sized spicy salmon, yellowtail fish and tuna diced cuts. A total seafood bliss! Another favorite is their Mashed Purple Potato with Beef Salad – purple potatoes are not only an eye-catching sight, they are also lower in starch than white potatoes. They also add vibrant color and healthy benefits to your diet too complimenting perfectly with their beef steak cubes.

Tucked away in the neighbourhood of Areia Preta, is an ordinary looking cha-chaan-teng cafe style eatery but little do we know about their game-changing #PlantForward #FutureFood movement. With affordable prices, they aim to introduce vegan friendly options to promote Green Mondays or at least encourage people to eat less meat in their own will while catering to their cravings.
They serve Alpha Nugget in Sweet and Sour Sauce that delicately coats every chunk of plant-based “nuggets” with caramelized pineapple. Another popular choice and recommendation is their Omnipork Japanese Style Don and Beyond Burger Omelette with Rice which are sure to please even the biggest meat eaters. Then by just adding +MOP $15, try a slice of Daiya Vegan New York Cheesecake that has a nice crust to filling ratio with a very similar cream cheese taste that really impressed us! Make it a set with a very typical and common cha-chaan-teng drink of their own version – Vanilla Almond Milk with Red Beans. A refreshing dessert drink that’s dairy free, lactose free and vegan friendly.
